The Scholastic Art and Writing Contest

8th grader, Natalie, won the Scholastic Art and Writing contest’s highest regional honor award for her short story, Midnight Sun Part 2. The Gold Key award at the regional level advances her work to the national judging level of the competition. Natalie has been working one on one with her writing mentor, Mrs. Ladonna Farrow as well as continuing in class work with instruction and inspiration from Ms. Monk.

Spelling Bee

After competing in classroom spelling bees, the top three students in grades 3-8 competed in a school spelling bee on Monday, February 4. Congratulations to Michael (third place), Lina (second place), and Andrej (first place). Andrej will be going on to compete in the Lake/Porter County District Bee on February 21st at 6:30 pm at Wheeler High School auditorium in Valparaiso. Good Luck Andrej!

2 hour delay

Due to the icy road conditions this morning, Tuesday, Feb.12, FRA will be on a 2 hour delay. Doors will open at 10:15 am and classes will begin at 10:30 am. Safety is our first priority. Thank you!


Due to the extremely low temperatures and dangerous wind chills forecasted, school will be closed tomorrow (1/29), Wednesday (1/30), and Thursday (1/31). School will resume on Friday (2/1). Stay warm and be safe!

2 Hour Delay on January 25, 2019

Due to the severe temperature forecasted for Friday, Forest Ridge Academy will have a 2 hour delay. Doors will open at 10:15 a.m. and classes will begin at 10:30 a.m. If changes are required, we will notify you. Thank you.

The Mitten Tree

Please help us decorate the tree in the front foyer with new mittens, gloves, scarves and stockings for the needy of the area!

FRA CLOSED TODAY, Monday, November 26th

This winter storm is expected to continue until noon today. FRA services 6 counties, therefore, for the safety of all, Forest Ridge Academy will be closed today, Monday, November 26, 2018.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

The Greater Hammond Community Services is holding a Holiday Food Drive for families in need. The collected food items will be picked-up on Friday, November 16th. Please bring canned and boxed food and peanut butter jars. Students who participate will earn Hender-Monti points!
