Language Arts
The lower school language arts program is dedicated to providing students with the skills for reading with understanding. The writing program values the organization of thoughts and ideas as well as the expression of personal style through creative writing. Lower school students:
- Strengthen their oral and silent reading skills and increase fluency and comprehension
- Practice spelling and phonics through weekly lists
- Improve their writing skills through each part of the writing process
- Carry out the writing process from rough draft to final copy on paper and using keyboarding skills
- Begin learning basic research skills
- Learn to write in cursive
